Doug Castenson

Doug Castenson, a native Iowan, was born in 1951. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1973 in art education, and a Master of Arts Degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1981 in art studio. Doug taught K-12 art in the public schools for 33 years prior to retiring from teaching in 2006.

"One of my passions in life has been gardening and landscaping. As a young boy, I would spend a good part of the day working on the family farm and garden. I can remember my mother repeatedly calling me in for lunch or supper because I would get lost in the yard and garden work. Even today, I have difficulty pulling myself away from the yard and garden. Creating a beautiful art work or garden is one in the same for me."
